I figured I'd better start writing something on this thing or it wouldn't do any good to have it, right?
Ok, so I'm almost as new to parenting as I am to blogging. SCARY! But, is it really normal for a little baby to be SO wiggly?? I mean, Lilly, during her waking hours, is an energy ball of constant movement - in a BIG way. (Michelle can attest to that one!) Maybe it's just that this is my first child and I have nothing with which to compare it. I was an only child too, so I didn't have any niece/nephew babysitting practice. Aaron, on the other hand, has an enormous family, so I think he actually had more baby experience than I did/do.
This is funny. Well, maybe it's funnier if you're sitting there watching it first hand. We bought Lilly one of those soft-sided, fabric Veggie Tales books that has buttons you can press to make the characters say things, laugh, sing, etc. Well, she hasn't quite gotten the hang of purposefully pressing the buttons, but she has figured out that if she lays on it just right it will do SOMETHING. So, she keeps rolling on it, rolling off of it, rolling back on it.......you get the picture. The whole time she's giggling. Very cute.
Remember Lion King?? [Am I the only one who still has that movie on tape??] Well, I probably haven't watched it in 7 or so years. Ever notice (those of you who weren't born in the church) how you look at ALL TV or movies in a different way now? I found it in a box from our recent move and put it on today for background. Sometimes Lilly likes to watch TV, although she quickly loses interest. (good girl). I realized today that the ratio of kid-friendly, wholesome, nice parts to gruesome, scary, suggestive parts is not at all equal and very heavy on the non-good side. Disney, what are you thinking??!! Definitely marketed to worldly adults and not kids.
The first year I was in the church and my very first FOT, I had the pleasure of hearing a sermon by Mr. Carl McNair that totally changed the way I would view television for the rest of my life. He spoke on such shows as Friends, Will & Grace, Seinfeld, etc. etc. Sadly enough, all of those were previously my favorite shows!! (Some of you might remember that sermon.) I felt myself sinking further and further down in my seat. I'd never really thought of television as being THAT suggestively bad before that very moment. - So, I never watched another episode of any of them. Now, I occasionally watch the local news and a national morning news show now and then. I was watching that new show - LOST - for a while b/c it didn't have any of the normal bad TV stuff - sex, bad language, violence, etc. But, after last night's episode, that may be a thing of the past as well.
I can't wait for the Kingdom! I wish more of my family knew the truth or were at least open to it.
That's all for today. Maybe more tomorrow.
